Modern fisherman is very mobile. Very often his mean of transport to the fishery is not a car, train or bike but a plane. After three hours of flying from Poland you can be on every fishery in Europe.
This mobility brings some limits when it comes to fishermen. We cannot take 50 kg bag with our lures on the board of the plane - we can only take 15-20 kg. To take full - sized tube with our spinning rods we have to pay extra to the ticket.
Traveller’s version for stronger fish
I travel with low- cost airlines few times a year, that is why having universal spinning rod which I can easily put into my main luggage is a perfect solution for me. During my autumn - winter stay in Poland, I added Team Dragon Voyager Salmon and Okuma Raw II reel into my arsenal. Team Dragon Salmon is 2.90 m long and weights 256 g. It consists of 4 parts , with transport length 79 cm and t.w. 21-60g. Okuma Raw II reel is in size 55 it holds 200m of line 0.40 mm, it has the gear ratio reel 1:4:5 and weights 420 g. I have never used such heavy spinning set before, but it quickly turned out that despite it is quite big , TD Voyager Salmon and Okuma Raw II 55 set is well balanced and even intensive, several hours fishing with big lures is quite comfortable.
The work of the set I checked during few trips for huchens to the river San in Bieszczady. I still haven’ t caught the queen of the San river , but these few trips let me test my new spinning set. For huchens in the San I used Dragon Nano Crystal 0.28 line, I put 135 on the reel. After correcting the beam by cutting out the washer reel, Raw II perfectly put the line on the spool. Early in the morning, December 4 me and my friend were standing on the bank of the river San. It was belowe zero, the water was steaming, we could see thick clouds over the river. The water chenged adter the sunrise. We could see barbells and common dace with graylings were trying to catch small insects. Water was alive like in the middle of the summmer. And then all of the sudden I felt the slight hit into 13 cm soft lure. I jerked and there it was. I shouted to my friend that finally I had the head on my rod. My friend fast run to me and helped with taking out the ...asp. Unfortunately my fisrts huchen turned out to be, big, autumn asp. After short photo shot , the asp was released into the river. After that I had another taking, unfortunately without happy ending. We changed our positions. After a while we noticed, huge, more than one metre fish, I was sure that it had to be big huchen. Meanwhile I took another fish, which was small, 60 cm pike.
Another trips to the river San
Since the end of 2015 I visited the river San several times, unfortunetely without any contact with the huches. I hope that the experience which I gained will help me during autumn 2016 to outsmart the copper husk queen of the San. After building the efficiently working fish pass at the hight of Przemyśl, the river clearly revived.
Team Dragon Voyager Salmon - about the rod
TD Voyager Salmon was perfect when hunting for huches. The rod was perfect with the lures from several to over 30 g lures. Despite from quite massive construction of the bottom is very sensitive , perfectly signalises the takings of the predators which are not very active during winter time.
It was perfect during trolling big asp, it amortizes its sharp turns. At the begining of February, Voyager Salmon will be flying with me to Ireland, where I will test it on Irish lake, river and sea predators. During autumn , if my plans go according to the schedule, maybe I will be able to fight a duel with blue fish, sea bass, amberjack and barracuda.
